Episode 24: Music as a Vehicle for Healing w/ Dr. Suzanne Hanser

June 11, 2021

Show Notes

As integrative medicine and more holistic approaches to health become more accessible, modalities such as music therapy are on the rise.

On this episode of Students of Mind, Jayde welcomes Dr. Suzanna Hanser, chair Emerita and Professor in the Music Therapy Department at Berklee College of Music, President of the International Association for Music & Medicine, and Past President of both the World Federation of Music Therapy and the National Association for Music Therapy to talk about her work. Dr. Hanser explains what a patient might experience in music therapy, how it allows patients to have a better understanding of their own emotions, and how people can use music at home. Music therapy is an ancient practice and now we are seeing studies and current applications show the strength of this therapy.
